SAFE STREETS, BETTER ROADS & SMART DEVELOPMENT

Tuesday Thomas

I love this city. I walk its streets, ride its buses and trains, bike its lanes, talk with neighbors on porches, in laundromats and in corner stores. Somerville is home and it deserves a government as hardworking as its people.

Building a Better Somerville

My first priority is ensuring we have homes people can afford. Families shouldn’t be priced out of their own neighborhood. I will stabilize year-to-year rent spikes, fast-track new homes near the T and protect our double/triple decker homes.

Second, I will push for safer streets. Too many of us know someone hurt while biking. That shouldn’t be be normal. We need street designs that make the safest movement the easiest move. Protected intersections, daylight corners and traffic regulations everyone can follow. No matter how you get around, car, bike, motorcycle, scooter, wheelchair, unicycle, skateboard or with a baby carriage, the street and the process should work for you.

Third, I will work diligently to streamline permitting and licensing processes. Government that actually works to help the people who want to live and work here (less red tape, city hall liaison to facilitate residents looking to remodel, build or start a business. And preparedness for the end of federal funding.
